Nico is an [ assistant professor ] in [ Visual Media Communication ] at the Department of Science and Technology (ITN) at Linköping University (LiU). As part of the division of Media and Information Technology (MIT) on Campus Norrköping, he teaches courses on information design, web programming, and data visualization. His research is focused on human-computer interaction, commonly concerned with immersive visual analytics and user interface design, and within the contexts of urban data and climate visualization.

Nico completed his postdoctoral journey at the [ iVis ] research unit at LiU, with whom he continues to be associated with. He obtained a [ Ph.D. ] in Computer and Information Science from Linnaeus University in Växjö, Sweden. His doctoral thesis is concerned with the investigation of supporting data interaction and Hybrid Asymmetric Collaboration using Virtual Reality within the context of spatio-temporal data analysis. Nico is an alumnus of the [ VRxAR Labs ] research collective.

Prior to his doctoral journey, Nico worked as a research assistant at the Department of Media Technology at Linnaeus University, where he also obtained a M.Sc. degree in Social Media and Web Technologies. He graduated with a B.Sc. degree in [ International Media and Computing ] from Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft (HTW) Berlin, Germany.
